Facilitator: Lorna Partington
Are you considering entering a pitching contest (such as Novel Slam)? Or are you worried your story’s opening isn’t capturing the attention of agents or editors?
We all know that endings are hard, but are beginnings really so simple? Your first page is arguably the most important of your story, novel or memoir, so it's vital that it hits your readers (inc. agents or editors) between the eyes.
In this interactive Zoom session, led by editor Lorna Partington, you will explore the elements of a great opening, what promises you've made to your readers from the start, and how your first page could be stronger.
Please note:
Participants must have a first page to work on during the session (max. 500 words) that they will be asked to submit via email to Lorna before the workshop.
This session will need a minimum of 3 participants to go ahead. Refunds will be issued if the threshold is not met.
